Mechanical SPICE: Model and Reality

SPICE for Mechanical Engineering was introduced in 2017 as part of the Automotive SPICE® plug-in concept. As mechanical (or mechatronic) products are an important part of modern system development, several companies have used this model for process improvement of standard process descriptions and for conducting assessments. Feedback indicates that the model is helping projects and companies meet future challenges in changing mechanical development. These include, for example, the increasing mix with hardware and the growing interfaces and complexity. SPICE for Mechanical Engineering has been maintained over the years to remain consistent with the Automotive SPICE® and Hardware SPICE models and to cover mechanical development experiences.

This training will give you an overview of the Process Assessment Model (PAM) “SPICE for Mechanical Engineering” and its key processes. The requirements of the model will be shown, but also practical examples will be given on how these can be implemented in practice. For this purpose, processes and workflows of a company are presented and exemplary work products are shown. This training supports companies in implementing this model in their product development.
